For the first time, Qatar is hosting the Web Summit, one of the world’s most significant technology and entrepreneurship events. In a program organized with the cooperation of five Development Agencies coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, 24 tech-startups from Turkey are participating.
Under the Global Entrepreneurship Events Participation Call, conducted in collaboration with the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), Ankara Development Agency (ANKARAKA), Izmir Development Agency (IZKA), Bursa Eskisehir Bilecik Development Agency (BEBKA), and Western Mediterranean Development Agency (BAKA), Turkey Pavilion has been established at Web Summit Qatar. In addition, 25 representatives from various entrepreneurship ecosystem stakeholders in Turkey are also attending the Web Summit.
For three days, startups have the opportunity to showcase their products on the global stage, while competitions, investor meetings, mentoring sessions, and panels provide valuable opportunities for business growth.
Despite being held for the first time, the event in Doha, the capital city, has attracted significant attention, with tickets sold out. There is considerable interest from Turkish startups targeting the Middle East and Africa markets, with around a hundred companies from our country participating in the event.
The startups at the Turkey Pavilion offer innovative solutions in diverse fields such as logistics, education, health, agriculture, financial technologies, digital marketing, and AI-supported content creation.
Innovative products showcased by the startups include advanced biomaterials used as implants, software providing digital solutions for seed growing processes, flexible solar panels, smart textiles that collect data from the skin, solar-powered micro-mobility vehicles, and a digital platform for managing textile waste.
Web Summit has long been organizing similar technology and entrepreneurship events around the world. The event offers the chance to establish cooperation networks with investors, potential customers, and other entrepreneurs and provides an effective platform for startups to present their products globally, making it one of the best in its field.
Under the Global Entrepreneurship Events Participation Call, the companies selected from the applications attended the world’s largest technology conference, Web Summit, held in Lisbon, Portugal, in November 2023; the Slush event held in Helsinki, Finland, from November 30 to December 1, 2023; and CES (Consumer Electronic Show) held last month in Las Vegas.
